Leningrad Blockade survivors will use the city transport for free by order of Government

St. Petersburg Committee on Transport sent a letter to all major city transport companies in which demanded both from government and from private carriers provide the Leningrad Siege survivors with "the unconditional right of free passage" on January 27, the day of the total lifting of the siege. The letter surprised the transport companies' managers a lot: first, most of them already conduct such campaigns. And secondly, it is doubtful if the city officials have a right to prescribe price conditions to privately-owned companies.

According to transport companies' managers, they were surprised mostly by the form of the message. "The most unpleasant thing is that we made this kind of proposal few years ago and regularly without any additional reminders of the officials carried out such campaigns.

Moreover, we have just held a meeting of our employees (many of them are newly arrived) at which explained them that this date means a lot for our city. Later we received a letter from the governor in much more correct form", - Mikhail Bogdanov, the first deputy general director of "Third Park" told "Fontanka".
